My wife and I are staying nearby for a holiday, it was my 50th yesterday so we thought a nice meal at the Bickford Arms would be a nice end to a lovely day, however not the case. On your website you mention a lovely welcome for all? We felt very unwelcome!. Not a busy night, about 20 people inside, a table of 12 eating and a few locals. 4 people at the bar, us being 2 of them. We were over looked as someone was served before us, then I asked if food was still available at 19.35 (kitchen open until 20.30) but the barmaid still had to ask the chef? Told that we could eat, we stood at the bar for a further 10 minutes whilst the only person on duty served the table of 12's food. 15 minutes now in a quiet pub and hadn't even been able to get drinks and weren't offered either. The lady working then finished with the food table, came back behind the bar and walked straight past us to serve a local his drink, how rude!. Extremely disappointed with the service and not the way I wished to end my birthday. As we had been left to feel ignored we decided to leave. God forbid the service if it had been busy. Customer friendliness and service is paramount. We shall not return.
