The George

Stayed for two nights last week (April '23). Apparently The George has recently changed ownership and is offering a new menu. The accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast, included, was more than we could manage and negated the need for a lunch other than a sandwich! We ate both evenings in the restaurant and both times the meals were excellent, probably costing a lot more in other establishments, for the quality of food delivered. Martin, Courtney and all the staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Thank you all for a nice short break.

We were made to feel very welcome, first had a drink by the fireplace and later the table to eat. You feel like you are in the living room, it is so rustic and cozy there. The service was excellent, super nice and accommodating. The food fantastic. We had 3 starters - the soup, the pulled pork croquettes with apple sauce and the cheese souffl. Delicious. The Venison was fried to the point. My pie was also very tasty, as was the Beef Wellington. The mousse for dessert based our meal off. The prices were very reasonable and the value for money was right. Water, beer, 2 glasses of wine, coffee, coke, 3 starters, 3 main courses (including the beef), a dessert and top service 120. Wir fhlten uns sehr willkommen, hatten zuerst einen Drink am Kamin und spter den Tisch zum Essen. Man fhlt sich wie im Wohnzimmer, so urig und gemtlich ist es dort. Der Service war ausgezeichnet, super nett und zuvorkommend. Das Essen traumhaft. Wir hatten 3 Vorspeisen - die Suppe, die Pulled Pork Kroketten mit Apfelsauce und das Ksesouffl. Sehr kstlich. Das Venison war auf den Punkt gebraten. Mein Pie ebenfalls sehr lecker genau wie das Beef Wellington. Das Mousse zum Nachtisch grndete unser Essen noch ab. Die Preise waren sehr angemessen und das Preis-Leistungsverhltnis stimmte. Wasser, Bier, 2 Glas Wein, Kaffee, Cola, 3 Vorspeisen, 3 Hauptspeisen (darunter das Beef) , ein Dessert und top Service 120 Pfund. Vielen Dank fr einen schnen Abend an das Team. Jacki
