My son has been having lessons with Jake for approximatley 2 years now and his drumming has really come on. He's also grown in confidence and is more relaxed when he performs. Jake is very detailed and systematic whilst retaining a relaxed and fun approach, plus he's also an amazing drummer! I'd highly recommend Jake to anyone who is looking to start playing or to someone that is looking to take their drumming to the next level.

My daughter of eleven has been learning drum with Jake under the Rock School Curriculum since shes eight. She passed all her grade 1 to 4 Rock School drum exams with either merit or distinction under Jakes teaching. Jake is a very patient and dedicated drum teacher. He sends detailed practice note after each lesson so my daughter knows exactly what to practice and technics to watch out for when practicing. He makes the plan to prepare my daughter thouroughly before the exams by giving her plenty of exam-related practice so my daughter is well prepared, confident and at ease during the exam. Jake teaches well via on-line lesson too. The family stayed abroad for two years and Jake continued teaching my daughter on-line during that time. Jake was very forgiving and considerate to make up the lesson time if theres disruption during the lesson due to internet connection or other technical issues. Jake picked up and corrected my daughters posture or hand technics while teaching online, which was very impressive how much attention-to-detail he was giving. My daughter is currently learning Grade 5 drum with Jake via Zoom during pandemic. It has been very effective.

After many years of wanting to take drumming lessons I decided to go for it and after searching on the internet I came across Jake. Communication was great and we exchanged messages and I arranged to go for it. Straight away Jake made me feel at ease. He is professional, very patient (believe me he needs it with me) he is incredibly knowledgeable and even though I am a complete novice I can actually now play the drums. I have so many more lessons that are needed before I am even half as good as I would like to be but Jake is as supportive as possible. Always encouraging and motivating, even teaching me to read music. I am so glad I started drumming lessons and super excited to see where it leads to but I have no hesitation in recommending Jake to anyone wishing to try drum lessons no matter what age you are.
