Nice section of Suffolk coast. Some WWll gun emplacements on site but not accessible. Nice wild ducks and geese. Be aware limited parking for 6 cars. Gate locked at dusk. No facilities. You can not walk north to Orford unless the foot ferry is open. Shingle street is 4.5 miles south. site of possible German landing in WWll.

Beautiful peaceful location, just a few walkers and the Birdlip to keep you company

Off the beaten track nature reserve along a still isolated stretch of Suffolk coast. Will inspire & reward anyone alike myself whose favourite environment is estuary. The views here are awe inspiring & it's possible to observe a storm front arriving from the North Sea, long before it reaches land. The local bird life is as varied & prolific as you can find in such an isolated stretch of salt marsh-cum-water meadows. In the winter the location is absolutely bleak & unwelcoming, but hardcore birdwatchers still flock here due to the migrating birds. Don't be put off by the vicinity to the nearby 'open prison', its inmates are not allowed to stray off-site...
