Never heard of this until my satnav took me today. Absolutely nuts that they don't take card. Who carries small change anymore? Did not see a single sign leading up saying cash only. Road is full of potholes. What a strange experience.

Google map drives me here, didn't expect I have to pay for it. Luckily I had some spare changes in my pocket.........

Right got totally lost and didn't know this was a toll bridge. Told the guy I got lost and he just went oh go on its fine. Went over bridge, views are spectacular, felt I should turn around and give him his 12p. Might do it again and take the guy a beer :)

Just came along here for the first time. Didn't notice any signs leading up to it that say cash only, was a few signs with a website on so assumed it was ANPR pay when you get home type. Get to a booth, told no card payment cash only. Very rude woman in booth. Asked if I could just pull out the way to save blocking road as I had some cash in boot. Was told no I had to do it right there. Ended up apologising to cars behind. Only 12p but the road surface is appalling so clearly any money made isn't invested into the road! Avoided on the way home and will next time I'm up the road. Who the hell carries small change these days?

2023 and there are still people sat in a toll booth made in the 1900's manually taking 12p (cash only!) while the road itself is obliterated with pot holes, the bridge has seen far better days, the side fences etc are atrocious and the traffic caused by the (quite often single manned) archaic method of payment is absolutely horrendous. Apparently the bridge has been making a loss for the last 5 years so they're putting the prices up, only one question - what did you do with the money for the 130 years before, because it certainly wasn't used to upkeep the bridge ever! If you're not going to use the money towards upkeep then at least invest in automatic systems to improve traffic flow!
