I have been coming to Gilberts for an MOT since passing my driving test (about ten years). I took my VW Polo 2003 for an MOT - a single brake light bulb was out. Replacing it costs a couple of quid and at most 5 minutes (anyone who has done so would tell you the same). I was disappointed that I was charged 25 for this, I would say more so cheated out of some money. It's disappointing because you would not have expected it from a reputable garage especially one with good reviews. It's getting more difficulty finding honest garages these days. I'm happy to delete this review - Only if I am charged a fair price for replacement bulb - I won't become poor from this and they wont become rich, however, its the principle for me and I hate being cheated by someone for my hard earned money. Until then, unfortunately, they have lost my business (including family members) and I (we) certainly wont be returning. R.e: Steve Gilbert Hi Steve Gilbert, your account of things are simply untrue. You told us it took you 25 minutes to do the repair and you charge 1 per minute (fair enough, I mean that's twice more than what a GP earns and they save lives) hence why you wanted to charge us 25. Off course, we both know it did not take anywhere near that long because we were both present, it usually takes 5 minutes but lets say it took at most 10 minutes. There was only a single brake bulb changed, not two as you mentioned below. Your mentioning of two bulbs replaced just adds more questions to how honest you are as a garage. I urge anyone to go online and check the current MOT dating 18th January 2023 for BW03SXL which shows a failure for ONE bulb Rear Fog Lamp. I took the car for a MOT test, not to get any repairs done. You never mentioned any charge for a bulb replacement, you decided to just do it. We all make mistakes, its only reasonable to charge me what is considered fair. 25 for a rear bulb replacement on a 2003 VW POLO is ridiculous!
