Ian has been a fantastic guide and support . He has listened carefully and been hugely flexible in his approach ensuring that I got maximum benefit. He is hugely knowledgeable and passed this on in clear and straightforward terms. I dealt with Ian through phone calls and on-line but he still managed to ensure we developed a personal relationship. I am lighter, fitter and have more energy as a result. Thank you Ian.

Ian is excellent - providing very knowledgeable advice tailored to my specific needs, all in the perfect setting of his private gym. With a specific desire to improve my core strength, Ian has helped me make significant improvements with a great variety of different exercises. He recognises your limits, so won't overwork you, but will definitely push you to achieve more than you may think possible.

Well, where do I start? I first went to see Ian, as I was what I would describe as fat but fit. Disclaimer; that is not how Ian would describe it, as he is far more professional! I was into cycling but realised that the long distances I was doing were not helping weight loss at all. Ian designed a programme for me that not only involved weights with him in his gym (which is entirely private) but also involved diet advice. By diet, I don't mean some faddy scheme but something that your average person could follow easily. He also designed some short cycling programmes so that I could still do the sport I loved. I can honestly say that when I followed everything Ian advised I lost weight. The bonus side affect of that was also gaining strength and a love hate relationship with weights, (mainly love, but dont tell him). I have a long standing knee issue that Ian took note of and built our programme around. Some people have a view of a PT as something, which only super fit people need, or feel that they may be too self conscious to see one. Ian will put you at ease. His gym is at his house so there is no one else to see you or for you to worry about. Over time Ian came to learn about me, and know how to push me far outside of my comfort zone in terms of weights lifted. Far more than I would ever do at the gym on my own. I am currently in a PT hiatus as I am recovering from an operation (on my knee) so not seeing Ian at the moment. As soon as I am well enough I will be back as I do miss our sessions. Whatever your goals; getting fit, gaining strength, losing weight these can all be achieved at Thrive. If you have been thinking about it for a while, give Ian a go and I am sure you will be pleased by the results.

Ian was very professional and thorough in his approach. I had a knee issue for about a month and was not sure what the problem was. What I did know, was that I wanted to be sure it was well enough for me to ski on four weeks later. With the exercise I was given to practice at home, with a clear understanding of how to do it correctly and why I needed that number of repetitions, my knee held up to the job. I am now completely pain-free. I would definitely recommend Ian for anyone wanting to exercise in safe way and get the result they want. His passion and enthusiasm are infectious. This makes it so much easier to carry on when the going gets tough.
