Used to be a brilliant garage, however, appears to have changed ownership in last few months. It has now become brutally expensive!!

In with 1 problem out with 2. I had an intermittent issue with my horn and took it into to Motech for repair. I have been using to Motech for many years although noticed on this visit it has new owners/staff. I want to try and present a balanced review and on a positive note should say the new owners did seem very polite and like they were trying to act in my best interest in terms of time used etc. I also wanted to allow some time after visiting Motech to get a second opinion before concluding this review. An hours labour was initially incurred with the diagnosis being that the horn issue related to the clock spring (which has the wiring etc that connects all the functions of the steering wheel to car). I sourced the part price from BMW and then asked if they were confident this would be the issue. They said that they also wanted to remove the drivers airbag to check if there was anything under it that could be an issue, another hours labour was agreed. I was called back quickly, with them saying that after half an hour of trying, they could not remove the airbag and suggested that I could do this myself at home and bring the car back with the part removed for further investigation. Upon collection of the car I tried the horn and noticed I now had a squeaky horn. There are two horns (low and high pitched) and I was now missing my low pitched and the car now sounds like a toy. I called back, they agreed to take another look, spent an hour on it and told me my low horn was now not working and that it was an evolution of the original problem, no way forward suggested. I appreciate that things can happen, and I was trying to keep an open mind, but my original issue related to horn activation itself and not the actual horn unit/s, so I was very sceptical about this and contested my original payment without success. I was able to source another garage who was able to remove the airbag and clean up contacts under the steering wheel which solved the intermittent activation issue. As for the low-pitched horn, this was also repaired, the mechanic said that two metal contacts had been prized apart and were no longer making a circuit, he moved them back and this is also now fine. He believes this could have been done with the probes of a multimeter. There were some positives, however I cant ignore the fact that I paid circa 100 for an additional problem without any definitive way forward, shame.

Please be aware that this New Motech is run by different people and has nothing to do with a good reputation of Andy and Tom, who used to be there Incredibly overpriced !! You might as well go to a main bmw dealer instead
