I recently visited the Classical Art Academy for a poetry workshop with Martin and poet Paul Canon Harris. We were able to follow Martins progress as he worked on a painting throughout the day, and shared his insights. It was fantastic day - fascinating, creative and inspiring. The academy is a beautiful house just minutes from the cliff top, Rachel and Martin were friendly, welcoming and accommodating, and the food was delicious. Thank you for a lovely day and I look forward to more events like this in the future! :-)

Anastasia Pollard Portrait in Oil 3 day Masterclass Dec 2019 was the best workshop I've attended. I still can't quite believe that I have managed to achieve the results that I did!

I am a 54 year old complete novice when it comes to drawing and painting. Ive enrolled on the Introduction to Drawing course and have completed 3 sessions so far and Im amazed at how my skills have developed. Martin is a brilliant teacher, knows his subject inside out and understands how to make a complex process accessible to everyone. I participated in the Colour Theory one day workshop today with Martin and it was both enjoyable and challenging, a perfect mix of theory and practical. I cant wait to put it into practice on the From Drawing to Painting course later in the year. If you are considering exploring your creative talents, I cannot recommend The Classical Art Academy highly enough.

It's a great place to develop as an artist, in mixed ability groups with absolute beginners and improvers, who all thrive in the happy atmosphere of a working art studio. High quality tuition, a shop with a wide range of art supplies in all mediums, pleasant company..... and good coffee!

I've had a really amazing time in my first term at the Academy. I had just come off a term from another group that gave me a overview of various materials and techniques. However I felt I wanted to dive in deeper and get some more professional and in-depth instruction. I spent a month learning charcoal (new to me!) drawing and then moved onto oil painting (again new!) of still life subjects. I was totally amazed at how quickly my skills developed under Martin, I would never have believed it before I started. I highly recommend this school for anyone interested in learning to paint in oil, learning perspective, colour theory, layering technicques such as imprimatura, etc. etc. Fabulous !! I've attached my pears study, I still can't believe I did it!! Can't wait until next term.
