Great vets, very calm and friendly,. Great with our old arthritic, diabetic cat. She actually enjoys seeing them.

Our poor cat was run over Saturday morning and left for dead. Luckily he was rescued from the middle of the road by a passerby and brought to Rae, Been & Partners. Unfortunately for our cat thats when he became unlucky! The vet, Charlotte, played down his injuries, she even missed an injury which has only come to light yesterday. She only seemed interested in ensuring our cat was collected at 12.30 so the vet practice could shut at 1pm. Charlotte missed that our cat had an injury to his left ankle, she sent him home to us with 2 pelvic breaks (which she had said was a hip break, when I questioned this on the phone to her she replied saying hip and pelvis was the same!). She provided inadequate pain relief for our cat who was in agony for days waiting for surgery. Charlotte did not send the referral for surgery as an emergency, the surgery she sent it to said she had only sent it Monday afternoon! The surgery she referred our pet to did not have any spaces for surgery until Thursday! We then rushed our pet to Calder Vets on Tuesday morning as he had begun to decline and hadnt eaten or drunk anything since the car hit him on Saturday. My poor wife had been feeding him via syringe every couple of hours. It was while our pet was with Calder vets that they discovered he also had an injured left ankle as well as the 2 pelvic fractures to his right side, Charlotte had completely missed this ankle injury and this meant our pet then had to be transferred to another surgery as he needs a specialist orthopaedic surgeon. During this wait he had developed anaemia and hypokalaemia. We will be contacting the Royal College of Vetrinary Surgeons regarding the substandard care our poor pet was given at this practice and by Charlotte. Had Charlotte competently assessed our pet and informed us he needed immediate emergency care then this is what we would have sought for him, she should not have sent him home with 5 days worth of buprenorphine syringes for us to try mange him. Complete incompetence. We are now still waiting for surgery for our pet, hopefully this afternoon, which we have been told is touch and go as to if he can survive it! *update* we have since received an invoice through the post charging us for a full day stay at their practice. Our cat was with them for a total of 3 hours maximum!! And a charge for the incompetent veterinarian assessment!
