Ye Olde Windsor Castle

We booked for lunch a few days in advance, only to be told when we arrived on the day that there was no food as no chef. Why could they have not phoned or e mailed me to let me know before we made a wasted journey? Not impressed.

We have visited this pub many times over the past few years and still the same good service. The staff were still friendly and helpful. BUT the food today was pretty hopeless. The sirloin steak was poor quality, dry meat although cooked to medium rare, I think it had been stored too long. The steak should have come with salad but it was missing so half a tomato and a dry steak with chips at 22 was pretty poor. The other meal we purchased today was a special belly pork. I know belly pork has fat but this was a case of fat with miniscule pork. So whilst the staff were great, the beers excellent, the quality of the food was so poor that from five star visits we have had in the past this time we are talking two stars. Value for money it was bad.
