Our next door neighbour was suffering with terminal cancer and was at Castle Hill for just over a week, when she was no longer fit enough to stay in her own flat. We felt the care she received in her final days was excellent and she was happy and peaceful when she passed away. A member of staff stayed with her each night, because she didn't want to be on her own. I can't speak for anybody elses experiences but, our brief one was good.

I will not give any stars for this care home, my dad who we sadly lost in Jan 2016 was here just over two weeks and the care and medical treatment he received was appalling to say the least. My dad gas terminal cancer he was very healthy all his life eating well and keeping fit, in 37 years I had never even seen him tipsy and did not smoke, so when he was told it was terminal it was a shock to everyone. When he started to go down hill he was admitted to Cornwall Hospice St Austell most of the staff were nice but the doctors there could have looked after is medical needs a lot better. We were told 4 weeks before he left the hospice that I had to find him a care home ASAP or they would do it and he could have been as far away as a hour and a half drive away, so after looking and calling everywhere and making visits I found one with a place free for 750pw at Castle Hill, when we looked and talked to the manager we were told how good it was and it also looked clean at first glance and told the care was second to none, but the day he arrived is when the cracks started to show, the bell was ringing 24-7 none stop only one Dr but he was not in everyday so made it difficult to help my dad with his medical needs. He was being sick none stop they said there was nothing they could do for him all and 8 times I went in to find his medical IV box was bleeping and had run out not been washed you had to pre book a shower 2 days ahead of time, left with no clean PJ's we had to wash them, sick bowls left all day in room bin not emptied hair/teeth,could not reach the light switch to high up I had to bring a lamp in the only place to put it was on his bed table he would ring the bell and wait up too two hours or call me at 3'4'5 am so I could call the nurse station and demand they see to him. He had cleaning spray squirted in his eye I asked them to see to it spoke to the manager and still the next day it had not been looked at it was sore and red. The tv did not work I had to bring mine, people calling out 24/7 no one was up everyone was in a bed everyday. He was not even being bed washed properly and he had a headache for two days they said they did not have liquid paracetamol there. We moved him after two weeks as soon as we could.
