The Jolly Hangman Tavern

Sadly cant give 0 stars, 1 is being generous! Also spent nothing - but obviously google has assumed Ive spent money! Popped into this restaurant to get a quick bite after our visit around the jail. Wanted to sit inside, so outside waiter told us to head in and one of the indoor waiters will seat us, which they did. Menus were brought over along with colouring for the children (initially I thought great!) and then everything went south very quickly. We then waited 15-20 minutes for someone to even attempt to take our order, sadly no one came. Unfortunately with young children there is only so much waiting we can do, so we gathered ourselves together and left swiftly. Staff and managers simply stood around, no one appeared busy or interested in actually working, there were a few tables with other people who also appeared to be just waiting. On leaving no staff stopped us to ask if everything was ok, once outside I did tell the outside waiter that perhaps he needed to talk with his inside team about their service but I doubt this would have happened. By all means a lovely venue, but as for service, there really isnt much!

Beautiful building & very pretty bistro area! However, customer service was very poor! After 20 mins no one taking our drinks order, promoted for a menu! Upon ordering took another 30 mins for food, which was very nice! Ive given a 1 star as service is equally important as the food, but here what appeared to be managers, hung out at the bar area, staff did the same! Our drinks were empty for a long time, having to get the attention of the waiters! Overall not a very pleasant experience!

If I could give 0 stars I would, food was completely uneatable. We order the Calamari and the fish was more like uncooked chicken. Bloody, red and jelly like texture. The whole restaurant was empty other than one other table, we were sat right next to them. Pretty much sharing the same table. No music nothing. It was quiet and extremely awkward. I would post photos of the food but I cant seem to.

This was the first time we have gone to this restaurant and it will not be the last, We decided to go to the Courtyard Restaurant for a Birthday meal for my wife 9th March, we arrived just before lunch and was seated straight away, we was given enough time to decide what we wanted from the menu, and when the food arrived it was well presented and it tasted great, unfortunately we did not take any photos of the food but can do this next time. We would also like to say a big thank you to the staff who were there that morning/afternoon they were helpful and polite and we look forward to coming back.

Booked as a birthday gift to my husband we we're very disappointed. Poor customer service. Waited 30 minutes for drinks after arrival, main meal was average, waited a further 40 mins after ordering deserts and coffee . One hour 45 mins for 2 course lunch. Poor restaurant management. Would not go again
