My wife and I attended the afternoon tea dance in the hall, with our lovely Mam and Dad, Thursday 28th March, my wifes birthday, Mams the following day, so we were celebrating.. We'd just had our lunch out, and needed some gentle excercise, to work it off.. Me and my darling wife are 55, and 53, my parents both are 83, (and happily.. he he... married for 61 years) We are beginners.. but Mam and Dad are hardened proffessional sequence dancers elite, and Dad has a certificate for teaching. They both ran a successful sequence dance for many years, at Hartleyburn community centre in Hebburn, and have been sequence dancing since they retired 28 years ago.. Anyway, we were greeted by the elegant, and quite charming Gladys, we got a wave from the Gentleman providing the music, and made most welcome by one and all. Mam and Dad were even asked by Gladys if they might like to choose the next dance, and even though the Gentlemans hearing is not what it once was; he most kindly put on the appropriate musical accompaniment for a Catherine Waltz.. We had a delightful few hours, and even enjoyed a slice of georgous sponge cream cake, washed down with a steaming hot cup of tea. When we are all free together, we'll be back for sure. Friendly, warm hearted people every one! Beautiful music, and lovely dancing.. me and my better half even had a go at line dancing! that was a first... and maybe not the last xx
