I had a really stressful experience at this Nationwide branch on Tuesday when I used the self-serve machines and it had taken in my cash but then crashed, which meant the money was not actually deposited into my account as the whole machine froze up. I asked for help and the person helping me was really calm and assured me I would get my money deposited into my account the next morning around 10am when they could open up the safe in the machine. I was not very convinced but indeed just after 10am I got a phone call, I was too late answering but checking my banking app the money was already in my account. I was really impressed with this reliable and helpful customer service so wanted to leave this review. Unfortunately I didn't catch the name of the person who helped me but I hope the branch knows who helped me!

I used this branch ATM to make a deposit with a torn note that should be accepted for as per Bank of England. The note was not counted as a deposit which is fine, the least this branch could do was to contact and advise me that they did not accept it. I had to complain to Customer Service before the branch manager made contact after a month! Nationwide Tottenham Court Road is a liability to Nationwide! Shame! To date they still have my note! So issue is unresolved! Never heard from the Branch Manager again. Shame!

The staff was not very friendly at this branch compared to other branches. I kindly asked for statements to be printed out, but the reactions I got was like a big task to the staff. Sadly, other staff at another branch was way friendlier.

I first visited this branch to help a friend get information about duplicate bank statements for her account. We had the duplicate statements printed off but these didn't have monthly totals which we needed going back some years. The guy at the desk said he couldn't do it and didn't seem very helpful, although a colleague of his did then take us aside and tried to be helpful. However it seems the Nationwide is unable to do this (in contrast Barclays and Halifax were able to). I asked if they could do an Excel download for us as an alternative. Nope, not possible either! So now we have to go through the statements adding up thousands of transactions manually with a calculator... Rather unimpressed with this, I decided to go back to the branch to close three accounts I have with Nationwide (these are old accounts which I don't use any more, but had been keeping in reserve). I was surprised when the rep at the desk said he wasn't able to close the accounts. He said I'd have to do this online. He entered my phone number and email address into the system, and gave me a customer number, all of which he said would enable me to log on on the website. I went home, logged in to the website and was unable to close the accounts... I phoned the helpline, placed in queue, waited 20 minutes, and gave up. I guess my only option now is to waste more time visiting the branch. It seems that the Nationwide can't perform even the most basic administrative functions. A totally useless organisation, with terrible customer service! Steer well clear!!
