We have been coming to the North Norfolk coast, staying in Blakeney Boltholes for more than 12 years. We were very much looking forward to our trip to The Wash House a cottage we have stayed in on several previous trips. When we woke on Saturday morning to extremely loud banging and drilling at the adjacent property, I queried with the landlord how long the work would last for. We had booked for 5 nights. I was told the builders would be there all week including the whole of Saturday and Sunday because he was up against it and needed to get the property finished for a booking the following week. And that his wife needed to reopen her shop because she had had no income for a few months. When I queried why we had not been informed that there was such extensive building conversion taking place after we had booked and at any point before our arrival he just moaned about how stressful it all was for them. He wasnt interested in our point of view, or how it affected us one bit. The fact that we had spent our hard-earned money and were looking forward to a relaxing break was neither here nor there. He told us to leave, and he would give us a full refund. He did give an extra 200 to cover the cost of petrol and having to pack up etc; to make sure this was the end of it but I felt this was just trying to buy my silence. What sort of customer service is this; we plan, book, pay and look forward to a holiday and then its acceptable for us to just leave again. Terrible attitude, awful customer service and selfish individual. We will never book with Blakeney Boltholes again but will miss The Wash House.

When your looking for this it's called the anchor. It's a fab little gift shop with an awesome collection of cards, seaside gifts, bits for kids, nic naks, wall art and hand made glass ware. It is also handy if you need a hat, scarf, bag or beach wet shoes. The is a limited collection of clothing and some jewelry. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended a visit, there is a little bit of something for everyone.
