I dont do reviews , but i feel i need to make the time from what i feel and personal feelings and everyting i say is fact that happened. I have been assisiting a lady to visit her husband for the past few months on the lower unit of the Nightingales care home at Bispham , the staff have been friendly but there has been a couple of occasions i have had concern. A few weeks ago, one of the residents asked a member of staff for a cup of tea , and the staff member snapped , "we need a break as well " once we have had our break then we will see about a cup of tea , the staffs tone of voice abrupt , and i was concerned from the other side of the room. My may concern is about our visit on the 26th November 2016 , we got there around 3pm and noticed that it were cold in the home , after 20 mins a resident, Ron were his name stated to the staff ," its freezinig in here " so hoping the heating would come on we just kept on to our visit , and looking at the white frost on the drive outisde showed how cold it was and that the heating should have been on. around 3.45pm the dinners arrived in silver trays from the upper unit, No member of staff were in the room when the dinners arrived, the member of staff what brought the food over were concerned where the cat was that lives there, and were looking for the cat for a good ten mins in different rooms, and once found huddled under a radiaitor she left the building still with no member of staff in the residents room attached to the conservatory . 4.20pm the 2 staff members return to the room, and the wife of the man we went to visit stated to a male member of staff in a blue uniform that it was freezing , and he replied sayiing the heating should be coming on soon. She then mentiond that there has been no staff member in the room and that the hot food were going cold waiting to be served, he replied in a nasty tone that he cant help it if he has someone ill to look after in bed and thats not his fault the food is there going cold , and he could not do anything about it. He were asked if there was a staff shortage, as this is not good practice not to have someone in a room for over 35 mins, and he replied that there were no staff shortage , and continued to walk around muttering and being very unproffesional towards a family member , and making her feeling more anxious about the care being recieved at this rest home, She then said that for all the money she is paying to keep her husband in this place, that heating should be a priority , and he replied that the cost were not his responsibility and that the food were also not his responsibility , agan in a back chat type of attitude. she then asked how many cans of larger her husband had been given in the past few weeks, she takes some in for him to have now and again, and the staff member who were not involved in this in the white uniform who always in the pasthas been so nice, kindly went to check and replied had quite a few stored in the treatment room , which shows that he has not been given any, then the guy in the blue uniform said " if he does not ask for one then he does not get one" in a nasty tone yet again, of which he were then kindly reminded that residents in there have dementia and they dont tend to remember or ask and that it should be offered of which he just walked away with no answer. 2 members of staff on at the lower unit seems to be a strech on the work load, i have been to many residential homes, and the compassion and empathy i feel could be better, and not once has any member of staff said what the resident has been up to during the week, for instance in another home, we get to see paintings and crafs work what the resident in concern have done in the past few days, would i send my mother there, no way
