This is a life saver, especially during the winter when it's hard to dry stuff. My throws, bedding and towels are all looked after. I had 90x90 curtains washed and dried here and they didn't need ironing, excellent service.

I've had a soft spot for launderettes since we - as kids - got conned into carting the washing, on foot, to the local launderette because a) it had a colour TV b) we timed visits to coincide with The Muppets on telly and c) it had a hot chocolate machine! That was decades ago... Today, the launderette, a different one admittedly, comes to me - in the form of Carolyn of Victoria Road Launderette. I first met her at the start of the pandemic, a learning curve for us all. Our "portable" twin tub (heavy time consuming work) had packed up. I didn't mourn its passing. We couldn't install a proper washing machine because regulations have changed - as indeed they have for our old trusted gas cooker - so it would necessitate an entire makeover of the kitchen. Too much for a woman in her late 80s to bear. And I couldn't drive because in August 2020 I'd broken my foot. And I'm now a full time carer to an elderly and very frail mum, having to handle the allied issues involved and keep crises at bay. Carolyn offered to collect the laundry and deliver it back - please take note of that reviewer who observed there was "no one there"/"clowns" when he dropped in. There's a notice on the wall showing the service wash hours and also a mobile telephone number by way of contact. Self service is the norm at many launderettes but this place still offers service washes as well at stipulated times. But there are occasions when those service washes need picking up and taking back. And Carolyn does all that. It's a valuable service given the demographics of the area. The launderette itself is a community resource and if I wasn't a housebound carer most of the time I'd sit and chat or read the books available with her other clients. But that door to door collection service is a lifeline - for quality of life and keeping my loved one safe. The washing is not only clean but immaculate when it returns. It doesn't require ironing. They take the trouble to put the towels together, the bedding together, and keep the 'fragiles' apart. I can't fault the place, the service, the boss or the team Carolyn has behind her. They all share the same ethos. And I don't thank them enough.
