When we arrived at the B&B Andrew made us feel like first class visitors - he greeted us in the drive and offered to take our bags up to our room. He gave us a welcoming pack and made sure we knew where everything was. We stayed in Garden View. I have never stayed somewhere that was so spotless/immaculate and amazing attention to detail - bathrobes (softest ever), binoculars, sewing kit, hot water bottles, fleecy blanket, torch, hairdryer and writing paper. On the hostess tray were tea, coffee and hot chocolate and decent sized mugs! Also, homemade oat biscuits (yummy) and ferrero rocher chocolates. The en-suite to Garden View is (as other reviewers have commented) small, but Andrew advised us of this when we booked it and there is a "house bathroom" to use as well. Let's face it, you don't live in the en-suite and it is plenty big enough to do everything you need to!! Andrew provides luxury toiletries and the shower is fabulous. After an extremely comfortable night's sleep, we ventured down to breakfast which is provided in a lovely conservatory with beautiful views. I have never eaten a 4-course breakfast, but I did here! I started with fruit (pears, plums and/or grapefruit in their own juices) with a dollop of creme fraiche. After which I had a bowl of muesli (selected from a variety of cereals). Then I had the cooked option - each morning you can choose a full english breakfast or the daily special - so, Day 1 I had potato cakes with poached eggs - cooked to perfection. Day 2 I had the full english - sausage and bacon from the local butcher - the likes of which you have never tasted, with mushrooms, fried egg, tomato and potato cake or hash brown. Day 3 I had pancakes with fruit compote and creme fraiche! Having eaten all that I couldn't resist the gorgeous toast (white or wholegrain - we had mixed) with marmalade and cherry or raspberry jam. All washed down with fruit juice and tea or coffee - fruit teas also available. When we booked Andrew made a point of asking if we had any special dietary requirements. My partner only has cereal if there is soya milk but I told him it didn't really matter. He provided it anyway - he is the most attentive host without being over-the-top, his attention to detail is outstanding. He can recommend lots of lovely places to eat - we ate at the Cantonese restaurant in Earby and The Spread Eagle in Sawley. Basically, Andrew's personality and attention to detail and comfort would make a stay in a wigwam first class! Can't wait to go back again.
