Very unfriendly encounter with her on Lytham Beach. Her dog was off lead when there was signs everywhere saying dogs should be on lead. Our daughter is very afraid of large dogs and her dog came to us, she never bothered to stop them. Our small chihuahua has been attacked a few times by dogs off lead and she didn't call her dog back when our dog was visual very uncomfortable. She then proceeded to brag that she's a dog behaviourist. Wouldn't recommend.

The impossible happened because of the Canine Counsellor!! aka Joanna. I have a food-oriented/obsessed Serbian rescue (Buddy) who would sell his soul for a sausage. On walks, if he detects a single molecule of anything remotely edible his recall is reduced to zero and I am entirely forgotten. Joanna suggested a walk on the beach this is not something I regularly do, despite living nearby, as Buddy is very reactive and barks at other dogs, lunging and lengthening my arm in the process. First hurdle (in my mind) was meeting Crawford how would Buddy be? Joanna knew just how to walk the dogs to calmly interact and Buddy loved him! Phew. Onto the beach, temperature a warm 15 degrees, my heart rate 150 beats per minute. So many smells and dogs!! Joanna quickly tuned in to Buddy (and me) as we walked along there is nothing she misses. After a while, my jaw hit the sand when Joanna suggested taking Buddys harness off (heart rate went to 200 beats per minute), Ill never see my dog again!! I spluttered. We walked some more and Joanna explained her observations and so I took his harness off. What followed was the best afternoon Buddy and I have ever had! He played with dogs, ran and did lots of digging, and. kept coming back to check in (as Joanna predicted) with Crawford keeping an eye on his new pal all the time. I couldnt believe it. Thank you Joanna for sharing your gift and making me a more confident dog-mummy and making Buddy the happiest dog alive

Met up with Joanna with Rosie our 2yr old rescue and Trixie the Frenchie thinking we would be getting a lesson of sorts on how to train out Rosies behaviour.. Instead we were greated by a very energetic woman who told us just let her go ! Rosies issue was running up to strangers barking and chasing other dogs So my anxiety spiked to unimaginable levels ..And I initially thought Ive wasted my time and money But . Joanna had already figured out the problem basically before wed even met !! How ? Lol So basically the problem was my anxiety of Rosie being just a high energy and intelligent dog And my insecurities with her doing what she did meant I just put her back on the lead at the sign of anybody coming close which fueled her desire to protect us more .. With much encouragement to allow Rosie to just be a dog and after a few incidents Joanna talked me down and you could see within an hour Rosie start to relax also.. We had a great walk along the beach with Joanna and Crawford and I learnt so much about how Rosie sees things and interprets my behaviour.. I still have lots to learn and lots of hard work ahead but she is improving with every walk Thank you Joanna Ian ,Trish, Rosie&Trixie x
