Then it took ages waiting for the one changing room in the menswear department. An old gentleman who had previously suffered a stroke and was therefore very slow changing, was very embarrassed by the queue he had caused, but had no other option. Finally our turn, but with no assistant nearby, and me in a wheelchair unable to help, my husband had to re-join the changing room queue after locating different sizes. Almost gave up!
It was probably only the almost WW2 type camaraderie that was developed by the people waiting in the queue, encouraging and critiquing the items people tried on, coming together in a time of crisis etc, that kept us all going, since we were there so long! It took an hour to choose and then pay for one pair of trousers at the single cash desk.
Then back to the hunt to find the lift that is really a lift, somewhere at the other end of the floor, so that we could get out.
No wonder Marks and Spencers is struggling. Zero customer service. Never again!
