We had a lovely stay at Barnett Hill hotel, although there were some things that could be improved upon. Some of the good things were: -Great afternoon tea -Largely excellent service from most staff -Coffee machines in most rooms/suites with complimentary coffee which tasted amazing -Lovely grounds (with a resident cat!) -Stunning modern bathrooms with complimentary Temple Spa products -Great food at the restaurant -Excellent breakfast food and pastries -Helpful reception staff Some of the not so great things -Cleanliness could be better. There were some stains in our suite which looked like spilled tea/coffee, a hairbrush on the grass by the main entrance (there for about 3 days) which staff surely must have walked by and just kept leaving there, and a piece of false eyelash in our bedding AFTER cleaners had been in. For the price you are paying for a top suite, it needs to be a bit better -If the TVs had a Netflix app on them, it would be greatly appreciated -Check-in could be better, we were not told when breakfast was or much direction about where our room was. What was pretty poor as well is that I was emailed to complete a post stay survey, and was emailed afterwards by the general manager to get some further information about my scores, and was told in the email he reads every survey personally. When I emailed him back with further information, I got a bounce back saying he doesnt work there anymore! BH really need to turn off the auto replies as its a bit insulting being told your feedback has been personally read, and it turns out its just an auto reply from someone who doesnt even work there anymore Nearby activities: Winkworth Arboretum 10 mins away

My disabled husband was turned away from your restaurant at the Barnett Hill hotel on Saturday evening because he had his assistance dog with him (a fully trained, registered and qualified Hearing Dog - charity number 293358). This is illegal and amounts to discrimination under the Equality Act. We are extremely upset and have never been treated this way or turned away from any restaurant or other establishment in the 6 years my husband has had his assistance dog. The manager at your hotel wouldnt listen to our explanations (we even showed him the relevant extract from the Equality Act) and in the end we left and had to find dinner elsewhere on short notice despite having paid a lot of money in advance to dine and stay at your hotel. Please ensure all your staff receive vital up to date and adequate training on disability discrimination and reasonable adjustments to make sure this distressing and embarrassing situation does not happen to anyone else. Genuinely the worst customer service we have ever experienced.
