I ordered the 3-course takeaway meal for my Husband I and for his Birthday last week. We wanted something a bit more special that the usual takeaway and having come across Piquant Dining on Instagram, this seemed like the perfect option. We were not disappointed, our meal was delivered to our door, bang on time and piping hot by the chef himself. I started with the duck rilette and my husband had the arancini, both of which were delicious and set the scene for what was still to come. The beauty of dining this way is that you can really take your time, knowing that our main courses were ready when we were, we took a little breather before rushing into our second course. Who wants to rush through these occasions! For our main course, I had the Coq au vin and my husband had the lamb stew, again, so delicious and flavoursome, the kind of meal that feels like it's giving you a big hug! Given the plentiful portion sizes, we thought it only right to recline for a while before diving into dessert and holy cow, it was worth the wait!! Pecan slice for me and dark chocolate delice for the Birthday boy, both of which were insanely delectable, I would happily have had two! With the joy of the restaurant experience having been denied to us for so long, this is the closest you will get. Thank you Piquant Dining, we will be back! P.S. My pictures do not do this meal justice, just order and find out for yourself :)

When someone tells you they had a takeaway, rarely does it conjour more than an image of a hurried dinner in front of the telly. But Piquant Dining takes dining at home to a whole new level. Myself and my boyfriend treated ourself to a three course takeaway from Piquant during lockdown and the whole experience was perfect from start to finish. The menu choices were superb and as a vegetarian I was pleased to see that as much thought and attention was given to the Vege meal choices as to the meat options! (It's lucky I'm a vegetarian as if I'd had to choose I think I'd have struggled to make my mind up!) After placing our order we spent the week looking forward to our meal, planning how we would set the table and agreed to dress up nicely! It was a fantastic excuse to make an effort. After a long week of anticipation the food arrived, delivered by the chef himself, and it more than lived up to our expectations. The food was still warm, but we decided to get it back to hot in the oven while we enjoyed the sourdough loaf included with the takeaway (we served it with some olive oil and balsamic vinegar). As a side note, as tasty as the bread is, be sure you don't fill up on this as you'll want to leave room for every bite of your meal! Next we served our first course: arancini balls for me and the French onion soup for him. Verdict: delicious. The chef obviously knows his stuff! For our mains we had the mushroom wellington and the lamb stew. Again, these were cooked to perfection. The sides were lovely and accompanied the dishes perfectly. We both remarked that we were surprised that the meals tasted as good as if they had just come out of the chef's kitchen! How Piquant manages this, I'm not quite sure... I think it might be magic. After our mains, we had to take a break. This was another treat as typically by this stage at a restaurant there is often the pressure to order the pudding or bill not long after the main, but not at home! We retreated to the sofa and spent about an hour raving about the food and patting ourselves on the back smugly for our cleverness in ordering a fine dining date night at home. Eventually the lure of the puddings overwhelmed and we enjoyed our third and final course, apple and blackberry crumble! Somehow, even though I'm not normally one with a sweet tooth, this might have been my favourite course. Once again, every mouthful was beautiful! I still think about it weeks after the fact. The quality of Piquant Dining is so high that they deserve to have a waiting list as long as the next lockdown but I hope that they remember me as an early customer so I can still get an order in ;)
