We bought a house from this incompetent bunch just before Christmas. The property was sold with a warranty / guarantee with the Developer. We've had an endless list of faults inside of the house due to extremely poor workmanship, we contacted the "developer" who took no action whatsoever. What's worse is that they incorrectly fitted a Sewage Treatment Plant so we had to pay out for a brand new system to be installed. There are endless reviews online about the substandard homes that these creatures build, all of the companies are related to the criminal family the Kiely's. I'd avoid these scummy people as best as you can, unless you want to be forking out a small fortune for a unfit home.

Lucky escape. I very nearly paid a deposit for one of Southworth Constructions new homes, sold by Walmer homes at Stanedge Meadows in Buxton. I was fortunate enough to get in touch with a couple of individuals who have bought houses from these horrible people. As soon as the "developer" gets your money, they'll never be in touch again regardless of how big your issues might be. One person I spoke to had to spend in excess of 25k to rectify their dodgy workmanship. They were also told that the house came with a warranty similar to that of NHBC, what they werent told is that the warranty provider had gone bust!! I've watched the episode of cowboy builders, it's alarming that this scummy "Kiely" family have been mugging off people since 1998. It's all over the news. I've also seen that the "investment" arm of these dodgy companies, Harewood Associates is folding with in excess of 32 million pounds worth of peoples money and savings. You'd have better luck with living in a tent then ever buying a house from this bunch.

Please think carefully before parting with your reservation fee. We were trying to buy a property from this company in February and paid our 500 reservation fee in good faith we were told at the time the house would be liveable in within a couple of weeks by the sales office despite the fact the site was more than 3 months behind, after continuous extended completion times we lost our buyer in June as they were not willing to wait any longer and the property was still not ready. We are now out of pocket as walmer homes would not return the reservation fee although it was building delays on Thier part and also solicitors fees.

I approached Walmer Homes in Glossop for a 200k house. I was instantly put under a lot of pressure by the Building Manger (Steve) told I could have a 5k discount + free carpets and legals. But If I refused the offer then and there I would not be able to deal further with them. ('If I step outside the sales office the deal is revoked') I was not informed at this stage that several solicitors refused to work with Walmer and that some lenders refused to lend on these properties. (I am aware of 15+ people who have pulled out) Clare was lovely and I feel embarrassed by the situation and often did not suitably answer my enquiries which aroused suspicion. But issues with cash flow, planning and environmental issues were not disclosed to me at point of sale. Having further investigated Walmer/Sherwood homes I was appalled by some of the previous practices and decided to pull out. My property also showed many signs of amateur/poor workman shift and everything looked very cheap and done cheaply. My 500 deposit was not returned as requested. Many windows had cracked glass which I was concerned was subsidence and although the development has a risk of subsidence it may of been poor workmanship. Walmer advised me to use LPL Solicitors who were less than diligent in their checks and We know mortgages. I would not recommend using their services as I feel its all too incestuous. I sincerely hope this development goes well but I feel like iv'e dodged a massive headache.
