Calypso Restaurant

We ordered curried mutton, rice and peas and dumplings and jerk chicken strips. Honestly if you have ever tried Caribbean food then you will know this tastes nothing like it. I lived in the Midlands for ten years and have tried many Caribbean food, me and my partner was excited to find somewhere up here we could try however honestly the mutton was really dry, there was no sauce really and it came seperate to the rice and peas so didn't hold any real flavour. The chicken was just grilled with a little spice added but was not marinated in jerk flavour at all. The best bit was the beef patties but to be honest I'm not sure I'm convinced they were made. Sorry to leave this but it's just my opinion ,I was gutted and I paid 38.

Authentic Caribbean Food - Many may not have had the opportunity to experience genuine authentic dishes actually in the Caribbean but as a person who has I can honestly say some of the tastiest food from all of the UK Caribbean restaurants ive tried. Only sad that they no longer do the Ackee & Saltfish but understand why. Definitely in for a treat & something to awaken your taste buds if you eat here! Parking: Beautiful canal location

Looked nice when it came out but was awful nothing like traditional Caribbean unfortunately was like it was a microwave meal. Which is really disappointing
