I took my Aston Martin to Hilton & Moss to replace some leather on the dashboard, which had come away, I accepted the quote of 500.00, after they removed the original leather, I received a call to inform me that the original stitching couldnt be matched and I had to accept workmanship that now doesnt match the rest of the car. They also refurbished the wheels and did a sub standard job. Then more recently, I gave them 3 cars to sell, thinking that a new showroom, new service. Firstly they put my 1969 E type up for sale without really checking it. After a buyers inspection revealed a number of issues with the car, Hilton & Moss informed me that the car was a death trap and required 60-100Ks worth of work to make it road worthy. I took the car to a E Type specialist, who fixed all but one of the items on the list, for 820.00 inc vat. The car sold one week later to a very satisfied buyer. My other E type failed to sell after 3 months, I was then given a reasonable offer for the car, by H&M, which I accepted a couple of weeks later. But after numerous calls which were never returned I gave up and they never bought the car. My third car failed to sell, due to an overpriced figure being put on the car, by H&M. I sold the car to the first person that viewed it at the figure I gave to Hilton and Moss. They also quoted me a figure of 40.00 to replace a brake fluid reservoir on the E Type and gave me a bill for over 400.00. They also quoted for some work on the other E Type and soon after commencing the work, asked for more that double the original quote, then after having the car in their workshop, put it up for sale having not checked the car whatsoever. Be warned, unless you have very deep pockets and have more money than sense, dont let them anywhere near your classic car.
