Mark assisted with our loft conversion. His drawings were excellent and his willingness to adapt them as the project changed was invaluable. He's responsive and always willing to help. He also turned out to be right about everything - annoying but reassuring!

We engaged Mark Wiffen of Marlin Design to take over from a previous Architectural practice. Our previous agents had brought onboard Mechanical & Electrical Engineers to support their work as well as Drainage Engineers. Mark talked through the process of working with Marlin Design and we understood that all this was overkill and not necessary. Mark took us through the Planning re-submission, and suggested alterations to the proposed layout. Now the project is complete we have a huge open plan Kitchen/Living/Dining area with large glazed rooflights that project large amounts of natural light into the middle of the house. We have been able to re-purpose other areas of the house, which if necessary can easily be adapted; the house is now future-proofed. Mark has been able to introduce us to a number of his business contacts many of whom have worked on varies different elements of the build. With Marks knowledge and experience we have achieved a beautiful, flexible and adaptable home and we would have no hesitation is recommending Marlin Design to anyone considering extending or renovating their home.

I have never bothered to review a business I have dealt with but want to speak out publicly about this company and in particular the man running it. Mark Whiffen the man in question blatantly lied and deceived myself and my partner and was responsible due to his negligence and shocking personal life in leaving us with a huge and very unnecessary bill for services that were not required. Having done research on Mr Whiffen he has done the same to several other clients. Please take great care when dealing with Mr Smooth ( oh so very charming when first you meet him) His over complicated and definitely not thought out plans were complete overkill leading to far greater expenses than necessary.. including his scam with a third party wall specialist that charged us 9x the agreed amount due to Mark Whiffens negligence. Please do yourself a favour and seek an architect who actually knows his profession and has fewer problems in his personal life. It didnt allow me to leave zero stars so Ive been forced to give him one star.
