I took a quad bike to Malarkey Engineering after Malcolm convincing me he specialises in the work I required. I had quotes before taking the bike to him and was told it would take approximately one month to complete. Over 8 weeks later the bike was complete and I was hit with a bill for over twice the original quote. Malcolm decided to fit additional parts to the bike which were not required nor requested. He also did not ask if I wanted the additional parts and just carried on. I questioned the bill and was told "it is what it is". I tried working with Malcolm for 7 weeks to come to an agreement but he was not interested unless I paid the full bill so I had no option but to proceed with legal action. After processing the court claim and advising Malcolm I have over 40 pages of solid evidence in the form of emails, photo's, videos and recorded telephone calls he finally informed myself that no further payment was required and to collect the quad. I have now collected the quad 16 weeks after it was taken to this "company" but Malcolm obviously couldn't face the truth so sent his son to hand the quad back to me. Here is a list of things noticed on return of the quad: Missing fuel tank spacers. 2 screws missing from the carbs. Lost screws and clips from the body work. Brand new heated grips have been cracked. The alarm is not fully wired up as requested. The engine wont rev much passed 6000 rpm. The throttle grip has not been glued on so it slips. Part of the body work support has not been fitted. The fuel guage has not been wired up as requested. The side light wires and bulb holder have been removed which is required for an MOT. The alarm LED has been fitted to the fuel tank cover so I had to pull the wires out the loom to make enough slack to be able to remove the fuel tank. I am now left with a quad I still cannot use which requires more work and tuning. No apologies whatsoever from Malcolm, just lots of excuses and lies. I strongly advise anybody to look elsewhere for a more reliable company where you wont get taken advantage of. Needless to say, Trading Standards have been made aware of this company.
