The Rookery

Beautiful, huge property with lots of original features, and surrounded by stunning scenery. The owners were really welcoming and helpful - especially when I managed to get my car stuck in the mud!

We had our school fellows reunion here, what an amazing place. Yes it's dated but that's the beauty of it. There was no mobile reception except only for EE but again this helped to switch off. There was WiFi which was basic but did the job. It helped keep everyone off their phones. The place is massive and the beds are really comfy. The view from my room was striking, honestly I couldn't help but just kept staring out. It's in the middle of nowhere but just fields and sheep so at night it does feel a little spooky. I would definitely be visiting this again. I'm already planning my next visit.

An idyllic position looking across the valley, set amongst trees midway along Bishopdale, the Rookery is an old converted stable block with lots of history. We had the good fortune to have the lambs still in the pasture (and occasionally in the garden) and the scent of ramsons everywhere. Sun or rain, the view out from the sitting room and the kitchen is a real picture. The Rookery is a great place for family groups to stay with good facilities throughout, including a games room. We had a hiccup with the heating which the owners Brian and Susan quickly sorted (thanks!), but that aside, the Rookery gave us a great place to stay for out holiday. Highly recommended.
