I had my first ever kayaking trip on the Canal in Birmingham. I learned how to paddle in a straight line and it was not so daunting than going on a river straight away. It was very relaxing as we moved along the riverbank out of the City. We were very lucky with the weather and had even sunshine for most of the trip. It gave me the confidence to book up for the river next, as I want to continue with the sport. The team was very friendly and helpful in getting me to paddle correctly. I would advise getting changed into your old clothes in the nearby, very clean toilets, whilst you are waiting for the crew, as I thought, that there would be a changing area and had to run back to get changed out of my smarter clothes to be worn for the day. We even had a lesson on the prison as we stopped outside the gates into the canal and some informative news as we were going along. All in all it was well worth the effort of coming into Birmingham on the train and I had a most enjoyable afternoon.

What better way to see Birmingham than on its canals? Led by the amazing Lily, our group got to enjoy a fun and interesting tour. The kayaking itself wasn't very challenging, so easy for a beginner.

Beautiful historic venue. A real hidden gem that's worth finding. Lunches are good value.
