BUTCO recently took over EVCO heating which I had used for years and received an excellent service from. I contacted BUTCO to replace a broken shower pump; an engineer was sent out who then looked at it for two minutes and confirmed that a new shower pump was needed (as I already knew and had instructed). I then received a 69 call out fee for this. I would also add that a BUTCO engineer (an old EVCO engineer actually) was at the property an hour earlier servicing the boiler. However, BUTCO decided to send a completely separate person out the same day at the aforementioned cost of 69. Disgusting customer service - avoid. EDIT: In response to BUTCO's reply: The fault had been diagnosed by a plumber previously, as you had been informed. It was not self-diagnosed. I specifically requested that an engineer come out to REPLACE the pump. I did not agree to somebody coming to survey the fault. You cannot argue that it is acceptable customer service to charge somebody for a service that they did not request. Furthermore, it is incorrect to state that I was made aware of the price of a callout. Had I known that I'd be charged 69 simply to attend my property, I would not have agreed to it. Frame things however you will - I'm sure that anyone reading this will agree that your charges are entirely unreasonable, especially given that it was for a service that your customer didn't request or require.
