Gale & Co. Ltd

We took an oil painting to Gale & Co which had been badly varnished previously. Although it took a while, an excellent job was done to remove the old varnish and for a more suitable finish to be applied. We are very pleased with the result. Then we asked for a more modern frame to be suggested and their choice was an excellent one. The picture is now hanging in pride of place! We would like to thank all of the craftsmen involved with our picture and we would highly recommend Gale & Co for any picture restoration and framing.

I am thrilled with the beautiful job Gale and Co have done of framing the painting I commissioned from Gillian Lever. They took such care in calculating the size of the border and the thickness and depth of the frame to give the artwork a 3D effect. Hand-mixing the paint for the frame and backing board enabled them to create exactly the right shades to set off the colours in the painting and make them sing. The museum-standard glass is almost invisible and you feel you can reach out and touch the painting and experience its texture. It was an education and a delight to visit their workshop. Many thanks to Nick, Julian, Paul and the team for doing such an amazing job and raising picture-framing to an art in itself.

After a very underwhelming result with another local frame shop I booked an appointment with the guys Gale & Co to get another fine art piece framed up. I was entirely clueless going in so they showed me some of the materials they had in mind for the job and an example of what the finished article would look like. After the consultation I was very confident that they would do a great job so I trusted their judgement and gave them the go ahead. When it came time to collect as expected the result was epic. A totally different level of craftsmanship and attention to detail to what I had previously experienced. I have since been back to get another piece of artwork framed and an antique mirror frame. The results have been fantastic every time. All the gents in the workshop are very accommodating and are very passionate and dedicated to their work. I couldn't recommend them highly enough!

Gale and co provide incredible service and craftsmanship. We recently had a large fine art print framed and the final result blew us away! The team who work there are very friendly and cannot do enough to help you! Would highly recommend!!
