I recently visited Tipu Sultan Birmingham and was very disappointed. Food was way below average, wings were uncooked, lamb chops or more like mutton chops werenot nice. The poor cleanliness of the restaurant doesnt align with the cost and experience you would expect. It's clear that this restaurant has gone downhill from what used to be a top-tier dining destination. Whats happened Tipu? The experience used to be amazing.

I visited Tipu Sultan last Friday at 7.30pm in a party of seven. The place was very busy when we arrived. Our pre booked table was assigned what we assumed was a newly recruited waiter. This wasnt a problem we werent in a hurry. The service was slow as expected and he provided little help with the menu. However, we had to chase the waiter to take our drinks order, finally they arrived at 8.10pm 40 minutes after we had sat down. Starters were equally slow to appear and were of average quality. The dirty plates from our starter course were left on the table even after our mains arrived, This was a blessing, in a way, as we were not provided with new cutlery for our main course. No tap water was available , only chargeable bottled water. When it came to pay we paid part cash part card between the seven of us ( including a tip). The waiter came back to tell us that one of the notes we handed over had writing in it and the manager was not prepared to take it. We denied handing the slightly defaced note over but it was pushed back forcefully that we had. We argued it was legal tender even if we had given them the note, but again the answer came back no from the manager. They demanded a replacement 10. We then advised the waiter that then 10 was part of his tip, so if he wanted us to take it back we would, but we would not provide another. Not surprisingly we were NOT given the 10 note back and suddenly it was acceptable. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant. Service is very poor, food is below average. There are literally HUNDREDS of better places to eat across Birmingham.
