This is a truly excellent environment to learn martial arts. You have a choice of 3 martial arts to choose from - Aikido, Aikijutsu/Bujitsu and Karate. You try them all and then can make the decision about which one you want to focus on, however sessions are varied and there will often be sections of the class where you learn bits of the others, making for a dynamic learning experience. Shujin Darryl (head of the dojo) is knowledgeable, personable, humorous and brilliant at his craft. The various black belts he has trained, who help teaching us, are easy to talk to and help push us to be our best. I highly recommend the Kaizen Centre and have learned a lot from training with them.

I was introduced to Kaizen Performance Centre as my daughter wanted to further her love for dance at a 6th from college. On our first meeting with Darryl he made us feel so welcome. After discussing our daughters requirements for her progression he instantly described what he would could achieve for her. His knowledge of what is required from training techniques, nutrition, physical strength and mental strength is unparalleled. Even after a few sessions we noticed a huge difference in our daughters training ability and her mental attitude. Thanks to Darryl our daughter was in the very best shape and most importantly he mentored her on her self belief. With all this said she managed to secure a place at a college with a fully funded scholarship. Darryl is more than a coach he has become a friend and someone that my daughter can turn to for advice. The whole team at Kaizan are an amazing, caring and very dedicated bunch that we are blessed to have found.

I cannot speak highly enough of Kaizen. I've been working with Darryl for 12 months and have seen tremendously positive changes in that timeframe. Darryl is kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and quick to adapt movement to suit my body's unique quirks. He approaches training holistically, teaches mental and emotional resilience, and is an all-around joy to work with. In my teens, I trained in ballet until I was injured. I also have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which means my joints can dislocate very easily. This has a major impact on my daily life and made me very nervous to start training--especially with weights. Darryl's thorough introductory assessment, combined with his adaptive approach to training that is rooted in a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology, has taken that anxiety away. He's built a programme around my body and focused on building strength in the muscles that hold my joints in place. I can now walk up a hill without having my hips slip out of place. 12 months ago, that was beyond a pipedream. During my first session, I told Darryl that lifting a 2kg dumbbell made me feel nervous. Earlier this month, I lifted >50% of my body weight in a rack pull with a big smile on my face. That probably tells you everything you need to know. 10/10
