We've been coming to the alchemist for years and see it as a little treat. We normally stay for a good few hours and enjoy the cocktail list. The staff are friendly but not in your face and the place genuinely has a relaxed vibe. These three stars are for the staff. The cocktail menu has evolved again and this time it's a struggle to find more than two we would come back and order. Despite spending almost 80 quid we were left baffled by some of the changes, we got to try almost all the new ones and they left us cold. Isaac managed to make us some off menu and they were by far the tastiest ones we had, so a big shout out to him for his efforts. Unfortunately all bar people make drinks a little differently so we might miss Isaac the next time we come back and wouldn't then be guaranteed even those good ones. Good luck Isaac with coming up with new cocktails, the Remedy would get a high 9/10 from us.

Intimidating and unwelcome. Having visited previously I have in the past had a lovely experience this was not the case yesterday. We entered the premises via the side door (the normal way we enter), however, due to us girls chatting I missed the fact the doorman on the other door was calling us to use the main door. The said doorman then approached me inside and in no uncertain terms told me of my genuine mistake. He was intimidating and very aggressive in his approach. I apologised profusely and literally held my hands up and said sorry we were chatting and I didn't hear his calls. Your approach was very OTT. Secondly, after being given great service at the bar, we sat enjoying the atmosphere in a corner booth. We were finishing off our drinks and then suddenly with no eye contact or communication a lady grabbed the near-empty drinks and took them. I paid good money for them and expect to savour and enjoy the experience. Feedback - maybe try treating people as a person and not just another person to deal with. Without customers you would not have a job. Having been in the hospitality industry for many years at a high level I hope you take this comment as constructive as opposed to criticism.
