Cant thank the A&E department enough! On Friday 31st March we arrived at A&E by ambulance due to my 20 month old having a seizure at home. DR Sam and the nurses were amazing. They reassured us throughout the whole process , kept myself and my partner calm and explained everything in English not medical terminology. The staff all worked together and you could see them liaising with each other regarding our son. We were discharged with the reassurance to come straight back up if there was any changes. On the evening of Saturday 1st April my sons breathing changed again. I phoned switch board to see if I could speak to anyone in A&E and she was so helpful to put me through after explaining we were there the night before as they dont usually connect the calls. The doctor I spoke to on the phone was reassuring and advised that if we had any concerns to come straight back up. After just arriving my sons temp spiked to 40.3, I alerted the receptionist who updated his notes, after waiting about 30mins we went through to the assessment room where the nurse and student nurse were reassuring and worked quickly and efficiently. After about 15 mins back in the waiting room they called us through to one of the cubicles and we were fortunate to have Dr Sam and the same nurse from the night prior. They decided to send him for an x-ray and bloods and kept us updated throughout all of this. They eventually moved us to the observation ward where we were only there about 30mins when Dr Sam came back to give us the results of his bloods and x-ray. He was happy with his results and again explained everything in English ( not medical terminology) for us and was happy to discharge us. We couldnt thank the whole department enough, especially Dr Sam and the nurse( cant remember her name).
