Definitely not returning. I hadn't read previous reviews but agree with how this 'experience' is not value for money. Ordered drinks and food and both were really poor quality. Cats seem very bothered and stressed by the noisy atmosphere. Staff were not approachable. I didn't mind paying the entrance fee but I was not aware of it beforehand. I wish I'd visited a farm instead.

Staff are rude and uninterested. Screaming kids running around chasing the cats. Rubbish service and food, not enough time even though you're cornered with an entry fee when you walk in. All the 5* good reviews must be fake. There's no way this place is even half of a 5*.

Me and my mum visited yesterday and were looking forward to having a coffee and seeing the cats (my mums cat recently passed away and we miss her dearly), but our experience quickly turned into a nightmare. The first thing is that the caf is clearly understaffed. There simply were not enough staff for the number of guests, and as a result we did not end up getting any service. This was ultimately a blessing, as the longer we spent without service the longer we had to witness some very disturbing incidents that made clear that this is not somewhere we would ever wish to spend any amount of money. The lack of staff is clearly impacting the cafs ability to enforce their own rules and make sure that the cats are living in a safe, welfare-led environment. During our brief visit there were a number of children unsupervised and treating the caf like their own personal playground. These children were grabbing at the cats, poking them, trying to pull their tails, waking them up, chasing them around the venue and screaming at the top of their lungs. The cats were clearly stressed and trying to run away and hide, and it was extremely upsetting to witness. While I recognise the parents of these children take the primary responsibility for their behaviour, the staff at Kitty Caf have to play their part in ensuring the rules are enforced and that these animals are in a living in a calm, safe environment. The cafs rules state that anybody who is not respecting the rules will be asked to leave, but we did not see anything like that. Instead, we saw very few staff, all of whom seemed disinterested and lethargic. Given the number of other Google reviews (which I wish I had read prior to visiting) which mention these same issues, the staff clearly are not interested in the welfare of these animals. We also saw one cat, a lovely black and white shorthair, which seemed very spaced out and was not responding to any stimuli. It seemed to just be staring into the distance as though it were drugged, which has left us with serious concerns about how they are treating the cats. Ultimately, we left after 15 minutes without ordering and asked for a refund of the so-called welfare fee. It is clear that Kitty Caf Birmingham are either unable or unwilling to provide a safe, calm, and respectful environment for the cats and that they exist to exploit these animals for profit. I am contacting both Birmingham City Council and the RSPCA with my concerns about the welfare of the cats with the hope that these animals are ultimately rehomed to people who actually care about them. If you have more sense than me and read these reviews before visiting, please take heed and spend your money literally anywhere else. This is a loud, chaotic environment that is causing these animals distress and they should be shut down without delay.
