A small two platform station with regular and easy links to Liverpool city centre, Chester or Ellesmere Port. There is cover waiting areas on both platforms, but access to the platforms is down a set of stairs. If there are lifts, they're not obvious or signposted. Bear this in mind when travelling to or from this station with heavy luggage, bikes, pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Lovely old entrance and footbridge, with some plants and bushes to add a splash of colour to the incredibly wide northbound platform in summer. No wheelchair access, however, and the shelter on the southbound platform is rather on the small side to say the least. Car park on opposite side of road with limited capacity. Friendly and helpful staff.
