New Brighton Lighthouse is a small lighthouse located on the north Wirral coast in Merseyside, England. It was built in 1830 and was originally known as Perch Rock Lighthouse. The lighthouse was designed by the civil engineer, William Hutchinson, and built by the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board. The lighthouse is situated on a rock outcrop known as Perch Rock, which is exposed at low tide. The tower stands 90 feet (27 meters) tall and is constructed of ashlar sandstone blocks. The tower is painted white with black detailing and has a lantern room at the top. The lantern room contains a Fresnel lens, which was installed in 1858 and is still in use today.
