        The model boating lake is a constant in the changing environment of New Brighton. It has been there since I was a child, and still attracts the same mixture of children with small yachts and remote controlled power boats, and older, more serious modellers. The lake seems better maintained than it has been in the past, which is also good to see. It may not be the most adrenaline filled attraction, but the boating lake is always a pleasure. Theres something relaxing about watching some model boats cutting a wake through the still surface of the water on a calm, sunny afternoon. Perhaps that's why the lake is still popular after decades.
