Poor advice given, was unclear as to what the service provided. No knowledge of other organisations in the local area.

The way I was treated by this service had a significant negative impact on my mental health and wellbeing. I would not recommend using this service, although it is a good idea, their support was highly inconsistent: I was lied to, let down and given multiple false promises. Their confidentiality policy is also unclear, and they did not follow it correctly. I got halfway through a course of cbt with this organisation, which was really helping, and my mentor at the charity was brilliant, but then due to my mental health being in a bad place, I was stopped from accessing the service, but the way in which it was done was highly unprofessional and unethical. This was over a year ago, and I have only just been offered help through the nhs due to long waiting lists. This service said they would be able to offer me volunteering opportunities, a safe space, counselling, cbt and art therapy - none of which happened. They also said they were going to breach confidentiality, due to my mental health, but wouldn't need to if I stopped accessing the service, which makes no sense, because surely if I was at enough risk for them to breach confidentiality they would need to do it regardless of whether I carried on using the service. I still feel upset by the way I was treated by this charity. I know others have had great support from this charity, so hopefully they've learnt from this and no one else has been treated this way, as this is not the way I would expect anyone to be treated by an organisation specialising in mental health and wellbeing.
