I found the owners and staff to be very nice & friendly!!! But i was resident for 2 years & i had a support package of 2 hours per day one to one support!!! However the property i lived in consisted of 4 other ladies each on 2 hours or more support a day, which meant there were 5 of us!!! Now the company claims 1 support staff member is at the property to give us our support from 9am-4.30 which is a total of 7 & a half hours, less half an hour for staff lunch; which leaves a total of 7 working hours!!! But the 1 member of support staff was given 2 call outs a day totalling in 3 hours!! To call on other clients in their own homes!!! Which meant the staff member WAS NOT on SITE for those 3 hours. Deduct the 3 hours off the 7 hrs left = 4 hrs left in support time divided between 5 ladies!! Now 5 ladies at 2 hrs per day is 10 hrs support time required & paid for each week by the NHS!! But we only had 4 hrs between us if that;because staff also had to check meds in!!! Give meds out to some not me!! And attend a weekly meeting,A monthly meeting as well, hold a house monthly meeting as well!! All time coming off our support time!!! Now less than 4 hrs for 5 ladies a day!!!! So i never asked for my support because mostly staff member was not there!!! Or was attending to someone else!!! So for 2 yrs the NHS paid around 300 a wk for me for support time i never recieved & the same goes for the other ladies except 1 that always got some support as she was considered the most needy!! The housing benefit paid 690 a month for each of us for the rent of 1 very old fashioned unfurnished bedroom no onsuite!! We also had to pay 40 a wk each for running costs!! There was 5 of us so they were getting 200 a wk for gas, electricity, water an odd window clean, and an odd garden tidy up&small lawn mowed!!! They charged residents for a new microwave, for the repair of washing machine!! They were going to charge us for a new washing machine but i wrote in a letter of complaint&said at 690 a month rent they should be replacing kitchen&white goods as & when required!!! They tried twice to charge us for rubbish removals of rubbish from a sparw bedroom which had been left by other residents so was the landlords responsibility!!!i had to write in another letter of complaint so they did'nt charge us in the end!!! But what you have to bare in mind is all residents had mental health promblems;some did'nt even know what day it was!!! I am fairly compis mentus so i took it upon myself to complain when they were trying to charge us for kitchen equipment replacements!!! But the other residents did'nt have a clue because of their illness so they would have agreed to anything that was asked of them. I also experienced a very varied level of support, depending on the individual staff member!!! As although initial training was given to new staff members there was no managerially checks at all on support work carried out weekly or monthly!!! There was no on the job continual training or updates or advice!!! There was a very high level of turnover of support staff!! So we were constantly dealing with new young inexperienced staff!!! The company also decided to cut out the staff 25 a month petrol allowance & instructed staff NOT to take any residents out in cars for leasure trips or otherwise!! They were suppose to support us to appointments;however i got dropped off at a dentist appoinment & left there!! They did not wait with me,i had no coat,no phone&no money with me!! And i had to walk home after a 10 minute appoinment!!! They were suppose to take us to do our weekly shopping and bring us back once a wk!! But we ended up having to book 2 taxis between 5 of us there & back!!! Every week!!! 1 resident was suppose to have her food cooked for her daily!!! A good member of staff did this providing her with bacon&eggs in morning & meat,2 veg&potatoe for tea!!! Once that member of staff left, other staff were sticking a pastie on a plate for her evening meal!!! She could have done that herself!!! Were was the nutrition??? Weekend staff were none existent!
