        If you are driving the scenic route from Helmsley to Stokesley in North Yorkshire slow down as you go through Chop Gate Village. The Buck Inn has a car park and is a lovely old fashioned pub. The food is excellent there is a German connection in the beers served and on the menu and that adds to the interest.

        This is not about the pub but its attached camp site. OK if you are used to wild camping, otherwise best to avoid. A small, wet field, with no shelter and poor facilities. There is a single toilet/shower room with no lighting and we were told that the water is not safe to drink. Since there is no outside tap, we had to go into the pub and beg for our water bottles to be filled. The cleaner was helpful and friendly, the owners much less so.

        How an excellent Spring fest in aid of Mountain Rescue. Good by the band, Bagpipe player and Guitarist. We stayed over night in nice comfortable room. Meals were good.
