I can say that my swimming has improved massively by taking lessons. I usually purchase a monthly pass. As a male I find it unacceptable that Tuesday evenings is womens only. Why is this is the case? The women like the men pay the same prince for a monthly pass but the men are minus one evening. What is the merit of this scheduling? This is nonsense. This is somewhat discriminatory. The changing rooms need a deep clean. One of the three showers has been out of order for the last 3 months & no one has fixed this. 35.00 is quite high for a monthly pass when you compare it to a monthly pass at Pure Gyms or the pool at Wickford. The staff are generally okay.

We have been coming to First Strokes for a number of years. There have been ups and downs with staff changes, a few times staff have not turned up to their scheduled lessons, sometimes classes have been cancelled at the last minute due to the temperature of the pool or chlorine levels, or issues with the heating, sometimes the showers are cold, issues with Direct Debits going out or class make-ups when its good, its good, when its bad, its really bad! Recently our son was moved up a class, which he was delighted about, only to be told the following week, he wasnt ready and would need to go back down a level. As you can imagine, this knocked his confidence horribly and we are now working to build that up again. The teachers have, generally, been excellent and Management are nice and encouraging of the children, but with so many staff changes over the last 12 months, its been disappointing. The changing rooms could also do with a proper deep clean. It is good for convenience and parking if you are local to Billericay.
