We needed a couple of large windows - including a 3-section bay - replaced in our old bungalow, so called out a few local glazers to quote (along with one 'National' - just for fun). Of particular importance to us was the style and appearance of the new windows, as the existing ones were very ugly indeed... One person immediately stood out from the rest as being more interested in getting the style right, and that was Robin of ATA Windows. No hint of 'pressure' (that was left to the 'National'...), just questions, thoughts, discussion and - more importantly for me - very good suggestions. It became clear to me that Robin wouldn't be 'happy' until I was 'happy'! And a few of Robin's suggestions turned out to be VERY significant to the overall appearance of the fitted windows; one was the recommendation of 22mm-wide dcor bars instead of the usual 18mm (which would have looked TINY!), and the careful balancing of the whole bay window frame so that it would sit evenly on our house and not have its top lost under the existing fascia board. These are really important details. So I was both relieved and delighted when ATA Windows' quote for the work turned out to be in the same ballpark as the other local companies - that made the choice a no-brainer for me. (Of course the 'National' was well over 3 times the price...) The installation day came quickly and Robin and a colleague turned up to do the work (another reassuring point - he's a very experienced 'hands-on' fellow). Despite my quirky bungalow throwing a few spanners in their path - such as an exposed wall cavity found to be bridged with rubble (which they kindly cleared out for me before I even knew...) - the work was carried out in a very methodical, efficient and good-natured manner - they clearly know their stuff. It was all kept very tidy even during the work, and the end was announced by the reassuring smell of good-quality sealant, shortly replaced by the spicy aroma of glass cleaner and the whirr of the hoover. And the result? We could not be more pleased! The windows look SUPERB both from the inside and out - even our kids said "WOW!". Robin's style suggestions were clearly spot-on - and that's what we wanted from the start; the confidence to proceed knowing it would look 'right'. The chosen style really suits our old and strange bungalow and gives it the 'lift' it so badly needed. Despite the new window style having an additional vertical frame section and 'Georgian' glazing bars, they actually look even bigger and brighter than the old ones and seemingly allow in even more light - now that's a mystery! It is a real pleasure to sit in the bay and be bathed by a more interesting flood of sunlight. Reversing out our drive is now a hazard as our eyes are no longer on the road... And Robin turned up on the day with the black-coloured handles I'd asked about on the first day - now that's service! Highly recommend then! I think you'd be very silly indeed to not include ATA Windows on your short-list of chosen glazing companies. Very silly. Indeed... :-)
