I want to thank the officers who helped me in the early hours today 27/10/16. I was stranded on the A50 near the M6 junction15 about 3.30 - 4.00 am this morning due to a damaged tyre on my car. I was a very frightened as there was a lot of heavy lorries passing. I called the RAC but they never came and said they could not find me. I told them to call the police. I am a 70+ pensioner and in danger. I had already been there nearly an hour behind a small barrier. I was so grateful when the police arrived. They were kindly, helpful and reassuring. I shall never forget them. I eventually arrived safely home. No thanks to the RAC who abandoned me but a huge thanks to the wonderful Staffordshire police. Sorry I have no names but they will know who they are.

I was threatened with arrest because Im disabled and accompanied by an assistance dog... I feel it would be helpful if Human Rights were supported by this department. I was told that I have no right to be in a restaurant with an assistance dog, and that this is not discrimination, as they aren't refusing me entry, they are refusing entry to my dog- that means it's not about my disability. They took a whole 4 hours to investigate... and the result was that the officer responding on behalf of the Police and Crime Commissioner made it clear to me that disabled people have no rights in Burton. "There is nothing in the law that says there is an obligation to let your assistance dog in" and "a restaurant has a right to refuse you service because you have an assistance dog with you". Thats not what the law says, but when you are being threatened with arrest, it's kind of a moot point, isnt it.... So, in Burton, you can be arrested if you are gay, black or other minority, or like me disabled, because you want a meal in a restaurant and the owner doesnt like the cut of your jib. Just be aware... and maybe go somewhere where the police feel an obligation to support the disabled, not arrest them.
