Honestly this Sainsbury's is notorious in Bicester for it's issues... Broken escalators and elevators, and high level of stolen goods (hence new anti theft devices at entrance). It is, i hope, turning a corner. The new Starbucks in the upstairs cafe is very nice, clean and spacious and the Argos upstairs is also a good use of space and business diversification. Having been today, the escalators are still broken and sadly the car park is very much in need of some TLC. Not all sainsbury's fault im sure but bicester town continues the fight to stay relevant and emerge from the shadow of its shiny big sister - bicester villiage.

The new exit barrier is a real pain. The pharmacy is going to close soon. Overall it's a good store. There is a Starbucks in store next to the Argos.

Sainsbury's, Bicester, used to be a good place to shop. It is now the most annoying supermarket in Bicester. Here's why: * After 5pm, they force customers to use the self checkouts, this is OK if you're buying a few items but if you're doing a big shop then there's not enough space on the belt. * Almost every time I put an empty bag on the self-checkout belt (to be filled with self-scanned products), the computer errors and I have to wait for a member of staff to clear the area. * The self-checkouts must be very inconvenient for the elderly and disabled as there's rarely enough staff for someone to go on the traditional tills (with a large conveyor belt), or they have an excuse not to do so. * In order to leave the self checkout area, customers have to keep their receipt in hand so it can be scanned, which opens a gate. * Very often, the shelves in the vegetable and fruit (not apples or oranges) sections are empty. * Sainsburys charge a rip-off price of 30p for a reusable bag. They claim it's for the environment but have no problems selling fireworks for the 5th November. Fireworks are great for the environment, aren't they? Hmmm! * The elevators are constantly out of order. * The male toilets (urinals) are the worst I have ever used in the UK. They are often faulty, frequently dirty, and the stench in the room is unbelievable. * I have tried online shopping with Sainsbury's several times and every time has been a disappointment due to a lack of stock and low-quality/unripe or almost out-of-date product, which forces me to go to the store (so why bother shopping online). In fairness to Sainsbury's, Bicester, they have several good points: * Very good parking with lots of spaces. * Free parking for 2 hours. * Excellent location. * Wide variety of food products, especially organic (which other supermarkets in Bicester do not stock). * Helpful and pleasant staff. * A cafe - I've not used it but it's there. It feels as if Sainsbury's, Bicester, cares less and less about the customer experience and care more about reducing evening staff numbers. I have to shop here because the other supermarkets in Bicester sell very few or no organic products. However, I'm considering shopping at Tesco and buying organic products online.
