I use NHS hearing aids. They are better than nothing, but, my hearing has got worse. I booked a test at this branch of Scrivens via the HQ of the company. This was deferred some months until an audiologist was available. This is the bad part of my review. My experience then improves considerably. I arrived for my appointment., HQ had not passed on the booking to this branch. The manager of the outlet asked me to wait whilst she spoke to the audiologist, Julie. The manager (I did not catch her name) and Julie kept the store open for me. Julie carried out my hearing test. Julie was extremely thorough. There was no rush. She used a form of testing that no Scrivens audiologist had used (as far as I can recall). Julie then showed me, on screen, the precise nature of my hearing loss in graphs. I have only ever been told what the issues are. No one has ever shown the issue in such detail. Julie then said that she will order the replacement hearing aids from the NHS (that were meant to be in branch already). She would then drop them off to me personally as she lives close by. I then asked what the cost of Bluetooth hearing aids were, if I chose to go private, and why they are better. Julie then, at my total instigation, took me through the differences and the options available. I then selected some hearing aids. I paid the deposit. The manager said that they will be perhaps three days or more before they come into the store. I was rung the very next day by Julie. The aids had arrived. I was booked in for a fitting the very next day. When the aids were fitted my hearing was totally and utterly transformed. I could not help but cry. I have tinnitus in my left ear 100% of the time (it used to be both ears until it was prayed for); my upper register in both ears is becoming difficult, meaning soft sounds are hard to hear. I then left the shop after giving Julie a hug, and crying as I left as my life has been utterly transformed. Since the fitting I have been at a wedding, with noisy chatter and music. Tinnitus is gone when I wear the aids. I have an app to control them. One of the best things is the bluetooth. I am unable to hear clearly the calls on my phone. I needed to put it onto speaker phone for every call. This is problematic if the call is somewhat private. With the bluetooth on, I hear the calls and notifications direct into my ear and this is also transformational. I cannot thank the ladies at Scrivens in Bicester for their care, attention to detail and service. My life has been turned around to an extent that I did not believe to be possible. I do not normally use national chains, I try and support local business. But, in this case, this branch of Scrivens is like going into a small business as the ladies here care about their clients and go the extra mile, to a hundred! If you have a need for testing your ears, then drop into Scrivens, in Bicester. You will not regret it.

Very impressed by the helpful staff! My husband needed new glasses and our experience there was really first rate and pleasant. The manageress took such care and the new glasses are great.

Very helpful staff, both from Optometrist and front line staff. Helped me choose a nice pair of glasses, and although you can get cheaper elsewhere you dont get the service like you do at Scrivens.
