The decor is slightly mystical, reminiscent of a jungle setting which is mostly created by good lighting. The atmosphere was good during our visit.
The place was not busy at all (12.30 to 2.10pm).
To now consider one of the most important aspects of the hospitality industry ... value for money.
We ordered the 25 tapas for 2 deal, which included 2 drinks we had a small peroni and small prosecco.
The portions of each dish were really small. The tempura prawns were ... tiny. In our photos the hands and fork are used to show scale. The portion of fries were an additional 3.
There are some major issues for the hospitality industry right now. Over the past 3 years very many people have learned to cook, improved their cooking or become skilled home-chefs. Our expectations of restaurants have gone up. If a restaurant can't provide us with something or better than, what we can produce at home, what's their purpose. Or, if they can't provide good value for money, what is it they offer?
We wish the staff & owners of Artisa well, but we won't revisit unless something significant changes that recognises and answers the new challenges restauarnts of today face.
The mid-market, casual dining sector is under pressure. There are too many of them, and too many providing at best, what many potential customers now experience at home. This can only lead to their numbers shrinking.
Some will enjoy the good things we've mentioned about Artisa and it will be enough for them to visit. Others will perhaps, stay home.
