Bethnal Green 4.10 Amstel A traditional East End boozer. . The Shakespeare is located at the eastern end of Bethnal Green Road. Bethnal Green tube station is only a three minute walk away. . Built in 1842 and clad in original Trumans green tiling, The Shakespeare is probably the most eye catching pub on Bethnal Green Road. . This is a small one bar pub which has a bright and modern interior. The tiled servery is a good size which pretty much runs the length of the pub. The seating is a mix of low level banquettes and chairs plus stools around copper topped poser tables. This pub shows live sport on the three large screens dotted around the bar. To add a splash of colour, there are floral decorations around the ceiling. . The beer selection was straightforward with familiar mainstream brands. I had a pint of Amstel, my pint was great and only cost 4.10 which is a rare treat these days. . I arrived just after midday on a Saturday lunchtime to watch the Arsenal v Everton first half. The pub was fairly busy with a local crowd in attendance. The atmosphere was relaxed and there was loads of banter going on around the bar with lots of cackles and laughter. Even though I wasnt off the manor, I felt welcomed and enjoyed the vibe here. . The @shakespearepub_e2 is a proper East End pub full of local characters that welcomes one and all. The exterior of the pub is stunning and draws you in with its beautiful tiled facade. The beer is good and the cheapest in the area. As traditional East End culture is slowly being eroded, it was great to visit a pub where it still flourishes. Get your arris down here and enjoy this traditional East End boozer. .
